Are you wondering what the exact quantity is? “What is a portion?” why a portion instead of giving a fixed number of kilograms or paint buckets?

Relax, this is something we want to explain clearly in this post. 

What Is A Portion At Iyaloja Direct?

At Iyaloja Direct, we work with portions. A portion is simply an estimated quantity based on the amount given to an item and the current market price. It is not a fixed measurement.

One portion of an item such as tomatoes, rodo, onions etc typically means at least one paint bucket.

However, you can get more or less depending on how the market turns out the day we shop.

If the price is good, the same money may get you one paint bucket, one paint bucket and another half paint, or, on a really good market day, even up to two or more paint buckets. 

There are also days when prices are high.

On such a day, the amount given to a portion may buy less than one paint bucket.

That is simply the reality of market shopping. The same amount of money cannot always buy the same quantity when prices keep changing. For this reason, we cannot guarantee that every portion will always be exactly one paint, 1½ paints or more paints.

Why the Quantity is Estimated

Our price list is prepared roughly one week before our market day.

At the time we prepare it, we use the prevailing market information and prices available to us to determine what we expect your money to buy.

But the market can change before the actual shopping day.

For instance, if tomatoes are cheaper when we go to the market, the amount you paid for one portion can buy more tomatoes than we originally estimated.

If tomatoes become more expensive, that same amount will buy less.

This is why we describe the quantity as an estimate.
